Frequently Asked Questions

The following are common questions arising when considering a general pest treatment:

Do I have to leave the house?

Not necessarily but we respect your decision to leave if you wish. The pesticides we use are safe for use around people and pets. We do recommend leaving the house and returning after 3-4 hours for people who are pregnant, asthmatic or especially sensitive to particles or seasonal allergies.

Are the products safe for my family?

Synthetic pyrethrums are considered safe when treatment is conducted by a professional and the correct precautions are taken. The don't smell or stain and are the treatment option of choice for most schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

What about my pets?

Like you, dogs and cats should be kept away while the products dry. If they can't come with you, it's usually sufficient for them to be kept in a crate or kennel away from the spraying areas, tied up to a clothes line, taken for a walk or locked in a room. Interior fish tanks should be covered in plastic wrap and the filter switched off for an hour. If you have a fish pond outside it is necessary that this be covered whilst our external pesticide treatment is taking place. Fish are very sensitive to pesticides. Our technician will not spray in that area

How long does it take to dry?

On average 2-3 hours for interiors and only 45 minutes on the exterior. Allow more time on humid days.

What if it rains?

Once the pesticide has dried and bonded to the surface it has been applied to, which usually takes 45mins, it will not wash a way (unless theres a flood).

If it's raining or looks like its going to rain at the time of your appointment, we will contact you and arrange another suitable date to complete the service. If it rains shortly after we have completed an external pesticide treatment and the pesticide has not had a chance to dry, we will arrange another date to respray the external areas again for you.

Should i empty out my kitchen cupboards?

Unless you have a german cockroach infestation, no this is not necessary. We use a special cockroach gel and place this near the internal hinges of your kitchen cupboards.
